This image could work as a poster for several reasons, the image provides ample room for text around the main part of the image, the boat, and a clean background so text can be read easily. The photograph also encapsulates what the film is about, it presents a conflict between man and nature through the boat dominating the sea for control in the image.
This shot is a long shot of a fence separating neatly trimmed grass from a long, and unkempt field. It links to the film because it includes a light coating of fog. The difference between the grasses establishes the binary opposites and conflict within the film, the neatly trimmed grass and planted trees represent man dominating nature for our own gain and the untidy field represents the dwindling freedoms of nature. This shot might not be as well framed as the last but it does allow plenty of room for any text and the title.
This shot focuses much less on the conflict between man and nature and instead focuses on one aspect of nature that we cannot predict, calculate or have any real control over, the weather. This theme is less obvious within the film it does have a significant background presence, rather than a specific focus. If I were to use the weather as a part of the poster this of a sunrise would probably be used. This shot allows for some interesting experimenting with text so it ties with the colours and the clouds.
This image also manages to neatly portray what my film is about, in one half of the image we see dense trees surrounding a telegraph pole and the other half we see a row of organised trees. The confusion of the trees is juxtaposed to the ordered and controlling poles, they act as drawing pins, creating order in the image. This image also supplies plenty of space in the top section for text, as the subject of the image is entirely in the bottom half.
