Short film inspiration

The Sandpit from Sam O'Hare on Vimeo.
This short film uses diorama illusion to make the city seem small and look like a scale model city. This technique is done by Blurring parts of the photo, simulating the shallow depth of field normally encountered in close-up photography, making the scene appear smaller than it actually is, the blurring can be done either optically when photograph is taken, or by digital processing. The speed of the video has been increased to strengthen the impression of the miniature figure effect.

Because of this effect applied to the short film it gives this illusion that everything is stop-motion and putting the viewer in the perspective of some giant being standing over the city as-though it was a child play area, this makes the viewer feel empowered.

All of the shots within this short film focus on the daily activities of everyone in a community, nothing is out of the ordinary

My Photos from the local town, the shots have been taken from slightly above ground level as I did not find anywhere that was high enough to exactly replicate these shots-
